chavez
Chavez is taking the referendum as a vote of confidence to continue the "revolution."
And what does this "revolution" consist of? Well, if you're looking in the mainstream press it will be hard to find, however, the Greg Palast has a piece that tells us, at least in part, what the opposition is so afraid of: sharing the wealth. And I don't mean sharing in the sense that Ken Lay, Fastow or Ebbers shares the wealth.
It looks like the experiment that is Venezuela is just beginning.

Chavez, who is seen as a hero by Venezuela's majority poor but as authoritarian
by his critics, particularly among the wealthy, vowed to continue his
"revolution for the poor."
